How to get to Narsarsuaq
Narsarsuaq might be the center of the universe as far as South Greenland is concerned, but for those who are not so familiar with our vast country, here is a short overview about how to get to Narsarsuaq to begin the Tasermiut Fjord voyage with us.
International arrival from Europe
South Greenland is lucky enough to receive direct flights from not one but two European cities during the summer months.
From Copenhagen Air Greenland, Greenland’s national carrier, flies directly between Copenhagen, Denmark and Narsarsuaq, Greenland on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes also on Wednesdays. This route gives the opportunity to get to Narsarsuaq on the same day the voyage begins and fly out the same day the voyage ends.
From Keflavik Air Iceland Connect, an Icelandic airline, flies directly between Keflavik, Iceland and Narsarsuaq, Greenland on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This route gives the opportunity to get to Narsarsuaq two days before the voyage begins and fly out the same day the voyage ends. You will have to book your own accommodation and program for any extra days, but we are happy to point you in the right direction if you need some tips.
Domestic arrival from within Greenland
It may be that you are lucky enough to explore multiple regions of Greenland. In which case, there are two transport methods for getting to Narsarsuaq from elsewhere in Greenland to begin our Tasermiut Fjord voyage.
By Airplane Air Greenland, Greenland’s national carrier and only domestic airline, flies to Narsarsuaq nearly daily from both Kangerlussuaq and Nuuk, both on the west coast of Greenland.
By Ferry + Helicopter or Small Boat Arctic Umiaq Line sails up and down the west coast on a fixed route nearly year round. On Wednesdays, it reaches South Greenland, and there is the choice to get off in either Qaqortoq or Narsaq. From there, you must take one overnight and start again the following day with one of Disko Line’s two transport options to Narsarsuaq – a helicopter or a small boat.
Transport to Narsarsuaq to begin the Tasermiut Fjord voyage is not included in the Greenland Expeditions by Land and Sea experience. However, we are always willing to share information and advice, so that you can choose the best option for you.
